RSVP A flash game i guess. Looks pretty pointless to me. I guess another time waster. That's what I"m doing until Nip/Tuck. I'm also listening to Tactical to Practical on History.

Well I didn't update last night so...

Last night I met up with my grandparents after work. Me and granny came back to my apartment so I could wash up a little before we went to eat. She hadn't seen my previous bachelor pad.

For dinner I suggested Nino's if it was open. It was. I knew I was eating escargot again just not sure of main course. I ordered my escargot and G & G had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. For our main courses:

Who ate what for dinner
Me linguini Bolognese
Gramps cannelloni
Granny Italian salad

Okay this works but I don't know why it skipped a bunch of lines

Next time I think I'm going to try the cannelloni.

Yahoo! News - Survey: Gasoline Prices Fall Sharply Gas prices at two or three local stations have been at $1.32 all weekend or as they show $1.319. Of course gas prices may just be lower as you near the MS river. September 17th I got gas for $1.46 at two places on my drive.

There's something about Mary is on TV. Edited of course.

Such an exquisite dinner. Lasagne Hamburger Helper® and red wine :)

Wheee! My grandparents are coming by for a night. Gonna do dinner together. I'm gonna aim for Ozzie's or Nino's.

GI JOE: SPY TROOPS THE MOVIE Well guess I missed most of a good thing. Long live G.I. Joe. I wish I hadn't given all mine away. I am sure I still have some old battle points from the 80's around somewhere.

Well I did some errands this morning. I did laundry after that. And moving on to the highlight ... dinner. While out running errands I saw a place called "Nino's Steak and Seafood". So tonight I went there to see if they had my craving on the menu. Above the door it said Italian Restaurant so that was a plus they might have bruschetta. Sure enough under appetizers I saw escargot in mushroom caps . So I got myself a table. Instead of the usual bread they have a foccacia(sp) bread with something like bruschetta toppings, diced tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and some seasonings. I ordered my snails and proceeded to consume the bread with toppings. Just as I finished my bread my snails arrived. I thought "only three? I'm used to six", well there were two snails per cap and they were sitting in a lovely smelling wine sauce instead of the usual garlic butter sauce. They were very good and tender and I scraped what sauce I could off the plate with a fork. For my main course I ordered bowties alla carbonara. The main entree arrived and smelled great and looked great. The bacon was chopped up and in almost thick chunks. I ate what I could and brought the rest home. Definitely would recommend this place to any visitors if I had some.

After I got home tonight some bad weather kicked up. The local weathermen predicted a 20°F drop and up to 60 MPH winds with some small hail. A fast moving storm came through with tornado potential.

For lunch today I did 7 - Eleven. I hadn't ate there in a while. Last time they were basically doing the Big Bite and taquitos and a few other small things. I now know toasted ravioloi is BIG in this area. This 7-11 also had corn dog bites, popcorn shrimp, chicken tenders and much more in the area of the hot dogs. I was able to get some ravioli, a jalepeno mesquite hotdog and a Big Gulp® for less than 5 bucks.

A nice thing around here is the lobby on the banks are open until 6. Where I've been I'm not sure I've seen one open past 5 and even here they are open for 3 hours on Saturday. I'm gonna try to get to Sam's Club tonight and go to the bank and get a new account tomorrow, also I think I'll either try a local pizzeria for dinner or go to Ozzie's again and try something else or get a full serving of that delicious ravioli. :)

I find it important to mention that gas prices have been on the downward spiral quite a bit lately. Its really nice. At lunch I saw gas for $1.36 at shell and tonight I saw gas for $1.34 at a QT. I read an article after August blackout that said we wouldn't see gas below $1.50 until November most likely.

Guess I should turn the freezer down my Framboise is frozen. It is not just a slush like before it is solid. Well some of it must be liquid since alcohol doesn't truly freeze... or so they say.

Features Item : Wringability and Gage Blocks Here is the interesting part of the process. " Wringability itself may be defined as the ability of two surfaces to adhere tightly to each other in the absence of external means--they are not magnetized or clamped together.

The source of the forces holding gage blocks together are thought to come from:

Air pressure from the surrounding environment as the air is squeezed out when the blocks are slid together.

Surface tension from oil that remains on the gage blocks or water vapor from the air that acts as an adhesive to hold them together.

Molecular force caused by the interchange of electrons between the atoms of the separate blocks when two very flat surfaces are brought into such close contact with each other. This force will remain even in a vacuum or if no oil or water is present on the blocks.
"

Gage Blocks gonna add more links. the long gage block on its side with the hole is the style I typically use.

weather.com - Local Driving Page Jeeze fall is kicking in.

Well I performed two more first time calibrations today. Both quite easy once you figure out the correct setup. Despite some of the physical dimensional I can't stand I like gage blocks. I'm gonna get a link to some here and what "wringing" is if I can. The new items were a digital protractor. This one was +/- 45 ° with a low resolution of only .1 degrees. The other item which I've seen alot but never done is a digital caliper. The outside calibration was easy. The inside calibration took some thought and playing as I was not familiar with the accessory kit. Very easy once you get it started. The range was 0-6". There are models that get much bigger but I think it is unlikely to see any at this location as the available gage blocks won't cover the range unless there are more I'm not aware of.

Well I'm a bit bush-whacked today so I'll keep it simple. I'm tired of the power problems here. My monitor flickers and my speakers emit tones with no input. The power lines need additional filtering. Almost everything is on a surge protector by APC.

I calibrated some stuff today I hadn't done in 4 years and was still considered the expert. I also did my first dial indicator.

I got some excellent mileage that one time. The best so far since I've owned the vehicle.

Here's the other thing I've been trying to send but keep getting it bounced.

I bought a loaf of "vienna bread" today. It is a sesame seed bread and very
good. It appears that toasted ravioli is either a St Louis thing or a new
craze. I even saw them in the deli and frozen food.

I may post again later if I get some reading done.

Well went to work a little early to see how the traffic was. Not too bad. I got there about 25 minutes early. Well... nobody there. Sit in vehicle for awhile. 5 til... nope. I stand around a bit ... eventually my co-worker shows up. Apparently mondays are a late start for those with the keys but we still get paid to do absolutely nothing until we can get in. Enough about work. I got a few scope meters done my first day.

Geez this costly new computer chair is a pain. Dad if you read this tonight send me an e-mail if any of mine make it through.

I get home and check my e-mail and I've got some returns, a worm of course, and somebody I sent my resume to almost a month ago now wants to talk. Nice when somebody wants to talk they all do but after you've already started a job. I still want to talk to everybody cause the market is tight.

Maintenance came by and fixed my lamp, storage closet access ( last person had dogs from the looks), and gave me a towel rack behind the bathroom door (I had to ask :-]). Now I can have a little space around the sink.

I'm opening up the electric skillet while I watch SG-1 monday on SCI-FI so I can make Hamburger Helper in a bit. I'll post a follow up in a few more minutes with the info I was trying to get to some family. My miles per gallon info isn't that special that I don't mind sharing it. Since I don't know how to do a HTML table a copy and paste will have to do.

I'm having alot of trouble getting e-mail through to hotmail and yahoo addresses today. All these worms out now are screwing things up just by the traffic they cause. I've received them numerous times but I am not infected. Some people on dialup are getting royally screwed by them. I think alot of people are also getting a full box. It might take me a few more days to get back into reading articles. I've been getting alot of static zaps today too. Hmm today was okay. Yesterday was near 90°, and today the forecasted high was only 73°. On the radio they said it was 57° about 10 AM. I guess the weather caught up to me.

I met my new employer today.

I got my cable internet and TV connected this afternoon. Alas I am connected to the world again. My sanity returned very quickly. For dinner I decided to go to Westport Plaza. What a pain to find a parking spot. I didn't find one. They had a parking garage so I took that option. Two hour parking was free with validation. I wandered around and asked what was there. Most places are bars with food and some other restaurants. There is one true sports bar which is where I ended up. The place I ate is called Ozzie's (in regards to St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith). I got the appetizer sampler. They have a good fried ravioli.

Note: written on the 19th but for the 18th

Well yesterday I drove roughly 590 miles from one home to my new one. After I checked in to the hotel I went down to the Hooters that is adjacent. I ate a chicken quesadilla. Pretty good. I wanted to stay awake until Family Guy (hotel tv had Cartoon Network), but was very unable to. I fell asleep very quickly. Didn't sleep through as much as I wanted to but I did get enough in the long run.

Today (thurs) I got around and moved into my new apartment. I was able to get one of my new co-workers to help me unload otherwise it would have took much longer since my ground floor apartment is downstairs(a little pain in the arse). I made my way to the local Wal-Mart after cooling off some. I purchased an
inflatable air mattress to sleep on. I also purchase an electric air pump to save time and prevent from passing out from huffing and puffing all day and night. :)

The fridge of a bachelor has two bottles of wine, milk, OJ, a couple sodas, four frozen meals and that's about it for now. The weather here today was hot and near 90, a big change from where I came from. I am thankful for having a carport all summer now that I have parked outside for one day. After I got my stereo setup and waited on rush hour to pass I went for food. I ate at a Steak N Shake. After I got home I put sheets on the bed and completed the majority of my computer setup. I left some to do for tomorrow as I am simply too tired.

DenverPost.com - ENTERTAINMENT Some good points on why song swapping is so popular and DVDs sell more than CD audio at this point. For a few dollars more you can get a few good songs on a movie instead of one song on a CD.

Well a few more hours and I'll pack it up down to a few things. I'm hungry now. Not sure what I'm doing for dinner but I suspect a local eatery within walking distance.

Sunday, September 14, 2003

Well as of this point 5pm EST I've got my vehicle mostly packed with Dad's help. Leaving a few things out of course. I am unable to take my monitor and computer chair though. I'm going to pack up one suitcase and a few more things later. Union break :)

On Tuesday I'll pack up my laptop (this Celeron 400) and my networking stuff. I forgot what else I was going to put here as I went of on a tangent.

What You Think You Know About Sept. 11 … -  … but don't. By David Plotz This was on my list last night of things to read but I went to sleep and left the link open. Good article. I'm gonna try something first.

Well I've decided. I'm moving to Missouri next Wednesday. I'll get my cable hooked up on Friday. Charter is weird. If you don't have cable tv at all they tack on some fees to your internet and the price goes up. To fix that they have a $6/month cable plan which is , from what I gather just ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS, and any other channels like public access. I'll start my new job on the 22nd.

I hope I did the image tag right.

THE MASSES ARE ASSES So I browsed one of the recent posts. I like it. The right column has some laughs and the Voltaire quote is good. I'll have to look at this again.

As a side note I think there are so many Blogspot blogs that posts are made so often it is hard to get one's blog on the 10 most recent list ... timing is everything. It may have been there for somebody but when I went there after I posted I didn't see mine. I refreshed a few times but to no avail.

tip: on major purchases buy the extended warranty, you'll thank yourself later for spending that $100 or more and saving 3 times as much after the deductible.

Well this is lovely. I keep having to login. Its as if my cookies expire in an hour. And now I come to do a post and there is an error on the page and I've no clue how to go about fixing it or if I can. I think I'll just read somebody else's blog tonight if I can find a short one.

I finished trying a 4 pack of Zantac to prevent or reduce the degree of the excessive acid and heartburn i've had the last few weeks. I'm surprised at how well it seemed to have worked. I can feel the acid trying to come up tonight but it's very minor. It has been minor or nothing for 4 nights now. I think next time I get in a bad period of acid reflux again I'll try
Tagament or one of the other OTC drugs. Somebody familiar with these things said there is 3 that do the same thing in a different way so as to avoid building an immunity or tolerance one can safely change as needed or periodically to keep the effects. I'll just go back to my calcium rich antacids for now and should I get another week or two where it's nightly I'll try something new.

Odd I managed to type one up. Well after I move I have some munchies to satisfy. I've got a honking craving for Oreos and milk along with more chocolate.
